Suggest Remedies For Itchy Eruptions On Face And Scalp
Question: i have oily skin and history of dermatitis. Exposure to sun causes sweating in my scalp and face resulting in itchy eruptions on face (looks like acne) and itchy scalp with lose of hair. I have had several treatments done but the problems resurface after some time. Diagnosed as some type of dermatitis. I am using MMF lotion with 0.1% mometasone furoate for itchy scalp and hair lose and 0.1% mometasone furoate cream for face but the problem is not going this time. Should i also use antifungal shampoo for scalp and include salicylic acid treatment for face.
Brief Answer:
Kindly upload image
Detailed Answer:
hello. thank you for writing to us
I request you to kindly upload a few images of the eruptions on face.
The cream and solution you are using are topical steroids and should not be used long term as hey can cause side effects like acne and skin thinning/sensitive skin

Thank you for your response. You asked me to upload images so i am sending some images. Hope this helps in your response. My problem is that i have already shown several doctors and get treatments for my problems but the problems recur after some time. The eruptions in my face leave blackheads behind and are very itchy during exposure to sun and sweating. Also i have observed that itching in my scalp has increased in the last few days and there is shedding of hair. I would request you to suggest me a treatment form and type of medicines which would best serve my condition so that I can have a base of suggestion during consultation with doctor here.
Brief Answer:
Discontinue mometasone on face
Detailed Answer:
thank you. I have reviewed the images
You definitely have acne on lower face. I think they are steroid induced acne because you have been using mometasone furoate on face. It is a potent steroid and can cause acneform eruptions on face which can be itchy or painful.
I suggest you to discontinue it immediately. You may rather use topical clindamycin 1% gel for acne along with oral doxycycline capsules/tablets for your acne.
Scalp itching and hair loss seems most likely to be due to seborrheic dermatitis. I suggest you to use a Ketoconazole based shampoo or coal tar/salicylic based shampoo.
Regards

Doctor thank you for your suggestion. I would like to clarify one thing I started using MMF lotion with 0.1% mometasone furoate for itchy scalp and hair lose and 0.1% mometasone furoate cream for face only recently after the acne like outbreak on my face. However following your first day suggestion I had discontinued the use of them. I would like to ask if I need to consult dermatologist immediately for physical verification or I can use the medicines you have suggested. How long should I use the medicines you have suggested.
Thank you for your time. I will get back to you if I need any other clarification.
