Suggest Remedies For Pain In Right Ear
Question: Hello Doctor, My wife is suffering from pain in right ear since two day's. The pain is exactly at the antitragus.Could you please advise medication. Thanks.

Thanks for the query. I have read & understood your concern.
Antitragus of external ear consists of cartilage & skin.
The pain there can be due to trauma( priking/ slapping/itching ), infection( furuncle, swimmers ear, ear discharge from middle ear, impacted exudate/ cerumen or foreign body in ear )
As you do not complain of any other associated symptoms.& it's since only a couple of days, you are more likely to have it due to trauma followed by inflammation & pain
* Home care- In my opinion taking over the counter NSAID drug like brufen 400 mg after food, twice a day along with a pill of cetrizine ( in case there was ear itching along with local antibiotic with steroid ( Sofracort skin cream).. used for couple of days should suffice.
Please do not disturb/ prick/ wash ear . This may cause infection
* Consultation of skin specialist/ ENT specialist in needed in case.. there is no relief with home management / in case there is associated middle or inner ear infection ( with ear discharge,pain. fever, giddiness, hearing loss)/ there is skin infection with rash, serous/ pus discharge from antitragus, eczematus lesion, skin infection else where in body.
The expert would examine the lesion carefully/ examine ear thoroughly or examine the skin lesion to come to certain diagnosis & offer you specific treatment for cure of the non healing problem.. as per need.
