Suggest Remedies For Severe Itching Throughout The Body
Take symptomatic antihistamine medications.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for asking at HCM.
Severe non-stop itching all over body could be due to allergy or may be fungal infection.
For immediate relief,I would suggest you to take an over the counter antihistamine like levocetirizine 10 mg or fexofenadine 120mg twice daily. Aleve has no role here for itching.
I would also suggest you to apply calamine lotion over itchy areas regularly and please do not scratch the itchy areas as scratching aggravates itching.
Above treatment is only symptomatic and we need to figure out the underlying cause of your sudden severe itching. For that,I would like to ask some more information from you.
Do you have only itching or itching with reddening of skin/rash/hives?
Any particular foods that aggravate your itching?
What about your skin condition means is it dry or sweaty?
Do you have any other medical conditions? if yes,do you take medicines on regular basis?
Take symptomatic OTC medications and please get back to me with these answers.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for your follow-up.
I went through your details and would like to make suggestions for you as follows:
As you have only itching without any skin reddening or rash, I would not think about the possibility of allergy because allergic itching is almost always accompanied by some skin changes.
Causes of itching without skin affection could be a dry skin or iron deficiency and other micro-nutrient deficiencies or may be fungal infection.
But it would require to inspect the skin condition clinically to rule out fungal infection.
Continue with symptomatic over the counter medications as suggested.
Regular application of moisturizer cream/lotion immediately after bathing to retain the moisture in skin and thus will reduce itching.
I also suggest my such patients a good multivitamin-multimineral supplement (like capsule A to Z) regularly for 2-3 months. I make sure that the supplement contains at least vitamin E, zinc, selenium, vitamin D, etc.
Short course of oral anti fungal therapy (like fluconazole 150mg for once) would also be effective but for that I would suggest you to see some local doctor or GP who can prescribe this medicine after careful inspection of skin.
