Question: My son accidently did the splits and heard a pop, he is in a great deal of pain

Hello,

I am sorry to hear this. If he is in a great deal of pain, please take him to the ER. He may have ruptured a ligament and this should be evaluated with a physical exam. Imaging studies will also likely be needed. You can give him ibuprofen for the pain and inflammation (to be taken after he has some food in his stomach) but he should also be seen by a doctor now if he is in that much pain.
