Suggest Remedies For Severe Sinus Infection While On Azithromycin

Question: I will call my ENT, but first I had to go to my primary care physician because I had a real nasty sinus infection. After 10 days of ampicillin and 6 days of Azithromycin, the disgusting thick yellow production with blood has cleared. Because I have a badly deviated septum, with nasal dripping, I have to inhale Afrin to reduce swelling to breathe. My temp isn't too high. I was 100 most days but finally today, I am at about 98.9. Is there anything else I could do to relieve the swelling and get me through the evening and tomorrow. I seem to need Afrin every 3 hours - too often. I was using a sinus rinse (Neil Med) but am so blocked, that no longer helps.

I have gone through your query and understand your concern. Sinuses are air filled pockets with very poor blood supply and medicines can hardly reach there. This makes treatment difficult. Steam inhalation and nasal rinse are the mainstay of treatment and should be continued.

Discuss with your ENT Doctor about the feasibility of surgery.
