Suggest Remedies For Undescended Testicle In A 11 Month Old Infant

Question: Hi Dr
My son who is 11 months age has a problem(Undescended testicle) and kids surgeon Dr advice as to get Hormones injections for 4 weeks otherwise he will do an operation for that.
My question is the injections Under the skin or into a muscle.

Hi,
Thanks for the question.
This injection is given intra-muscularly in the deltoid muscle in upper arm below shoulder or in the thigh muscle in children.
It might help and get the testicle down.
What we need to know is where the undescended testicle is lying presently. We usually test it by examination and if it is not felt in the inguinal region then an Ultrasound might help.
Im sure your treatment is on the right lines but this should be known where the undescended testicle is - presently.
