Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for writing to us.
Can you let me know the strength of imol syrup ( 125mg or 240 or 250 mg).
It is common after this vaccine at 6 weeks to get pain and fever.
The pain is because of whole cell pertussis in DTP vaccine.
Unfortunately acellular pertussis ( less painful) is not available in XXXXXXX right now.
It may not be available for next 6 months due to shortage worldwide.
Protection wise both are almost same.
Painful has a slightly better pertussis protection than acellular vaccine as per recent trials.
So your child is definitely getting the best vaccine as per your doctor.
Fever and pain may last a day or two but will settle down.
Don't worry.
Continue imol ( dose is correct if it is 125 mg).
Apply ice covered with cloth at the injection site to decrease pain.
If crying doesn't settle with imol consult your doctor again.
Wishing your baby good health and speedy recovery.
Regards
Dr Arun
