Suggest Remedy For Abrasion On Cheek
Question: I have an abrasion on my cheek from an airbag. It looks like a bad sunburn and stings. I heard chap stick might help or burts bees. Any thoughts?

I read carefully your query and I am sorry you suffered this incident.
Chemical burns,termal burns and lesions due to friction can follow an airbag deployment.
You should not apply chapstick over this area.The lesion will heal completely in 1-2 weeks.You should keep it as clean as possible.Wash it with rinsing water.You can apply cool ,wet compresses for pain relief (not ice).
I would suggest to apply an antibacterial cream for burns ( Slivadene) to avoid an infection of the lesion and keep the area covered.Wash the area with clean water and apply Silvadene twice a day.
You can take Ibuprofen or Acetaminophen for the pain.
Avoid bursting any blister.If you need to do it ,then do it using a sterile needle and don't remove the skin.
If it get's worse and it develops signs of a possible infection ,consult your physician.
