Suggest Remedy For Accidental Ingestion Of Alerid By Kid
Question: My son is 2.8 years old. Weight is 18 kg. Having no health issue. He has taken by mistake my medicine which is Tablet Alerid-D (either it is 5 mg 0r 10 mg not clear). Its salt is Cetirizine and Phenylpropanolamine HCL. I contacted our child specialist who told us not to worry. He also told us that our child will sleep more and feel dizziness. I am worried. Plz tell me how i can keep watch on my child? what precautions should i take and what should I do? what is an alarming situation for me ?
Brief Answer:
Please do not worry
Detailed Answer:
Hi....I understand your concern and I urge you not to worry. Will come to your queries one by one.
1. Phenylproponalamine may cause heart rate to go up. Please check the pulse rate while the kid is sleeping and if it's more than 180 please take him to the nearest emergency room.
2. It is true that the child can become slightly more drowsy. Let him sleep it out.... Don't disturb him.
3. Alarming situations are heart rate above 180 per minute and not waking up even after 12 hours of sleep.
