Suggest Remedy For Avulsion Injury On Toe
Question: I recently bruised my big right toe from walking in disneyvworkd and tight sneakers. Bruise has pretty much gone away. But now nail feels loose and I do get pedicures and noticed greenish area near nail bed. Soaked in vinegar and applied tea tree oil. Do I need nail removed ?
Brief Answer:
Possibly does not need removal.
Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome,
Sorry you bruised your toe nail bed. The greenish area is most likely from pigment from blood that has seeped out into the surrounding soft tissue (i.e. bruise). If there is no excessive swelling or pressure on the nail or signs of infection such as in the surrounding skin, you may not need to have the nail removed. The nail may fall off as it starts to grow out and a new nail will grow in, depending on how much separation there is. So no, I can't say that you will absolutely need to have the nail removed.
I hope this information helps.
