Suggest Remedy For Back Pain And Loose Stool
Question: I am currently on Hypertension( olsar 40- Olmesartan ) and Cholesteral tablets ( Lipicard 200 mg) one each daily. My blood pressure is under control 120/80 and Total Cholesteral is 149 mg, HDL: 37 Triglyceride is 109 mg others in control. I am on this medication since 1.5 years now. I am 36 years old, Male.
Recently, when I did Blood test, I see there are few observations which I am worried with.
Urea Creatinine is 1.3, Urea is 28, Sodium 134, potassium 4.3, chloride : 96.
Fasting blood sugar: 107 mg/dl and post food blood sugar: 109 mg/dl.
Offlate, I observe backpain when I get up in morning and my motion is not solid any more ( I assume due to gastric).
One year before, complete blood report was normal( sugar was 82 and 98 respectively) including creatine and electrolytes.
I am seriously worried due to these recent changes, is this anything do with my current medications?
Thanks, XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
Stop olmersartan
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for the query
Tab Olmesartan is known to cause a slight increase in serum creatinine through its action on the renal artery.
Here is what I recommend you to do
1. Do not worry about serum creat beng 1.3 mg/dl. I recommend you to stop Olmesartan and then be on a alternate drug like Tab Amlodipine.
2. Get a urine routine test done to look for protein loss
3. Get ultrasound abdomen to look for kidney size
I recommend you to repeat the serum creatinine after stopping Olmesartan within a week
I hope I was of help, if you have any further queries please get back to me

Thanks for Reply.
I have a follow up question, should I ask my doctor to prescribe Amlodipine instead of Olmesartan?
Or you suggest me to take a particular dose of Amlodipine such as 5mg or 10 mg etc

Hello
I am extremely sorry for the delay in my reply, there was a family emergency I had to attend to.
I usually switch over from Olmesartan 40 mg to Amlodipine 5 mg once a day, however I would want you to get your blood pressure checked before switching over so that appropriate dose can be prescribed.
I am once again sorry for the delay
Regards
