Suggest Remedy For Difficulty In Swallowing While Having Severe Cough
Question: I have had a cough for a year. Sometimes much worse than others. Also I am having difficulty swallowing. It goes past throat but sort of "sticks" in the chest and stomach area. It actually hurts. Not sure if I'm just getting old or it's a problem.

The fact that you have had a cough for over one year is concerning. There are a number of possible contributing factors to a chronic cough. These factors include postnasal drainage, asthma, gastroesophageal reflux and more rarely serious issues within the long including lung cancer.
you also mentioned that you had some difficulty with swallowing so I wonder if you have some esophageal reflux going on which could be contributing to your symptoms. I would recommend that you discuss this with your primary care physician who may recommend a short course of treatment.
Your doctor might also suggest a chest x-ray due to the fact that you are that the coughed for so long. I would not wait very long to have this investigated by your doctor.
