Brief Answer:
Fluids, analgesics, rest, see Doctor, no worries, not life threatening

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks for the query,

It is true and justified that Chikungunya fever has been reported from the Dominican republic. Muscle pain and fever are also symptoms of this condition. In case you remember being exposed to mosquito bites, it is an important reason to worry about, not so much, since your life is NOT at stake. I think that is the good news.

,However, it is important to know if you actually took your body temperature using a thermometer or not. It is not rare that with anxiety and some muscle pain that could arise may be from fatigue or strained position (airplane or uncomfortable sitting position), what could falsely be worried thinking it is Chikungunya.

However, if you have taken your body temperature and it is high, and you actually experience muscle pain, I would strongly suggest you go to the hospital for Chikungunya to be screened. Being sure it is not the condition is important and actually getting to know what is wrong with you is good.

For now, getting some rest, taking enough fluids and some simple analgesics like Acetaminophen and Ibuprofen could be sufficient.

You should normally be ok within a week. NO need to be too worried.
