Suggest Remedy For Itching, Pain And Swelling In Legs Caused By Severe Alergy
Question: My mom is having a severe allergic reaction on her legs.
Red inflamation, severe itching, thickening of skin, swelling, bumps & lines.
She was wearing nylon support hose. She formed blisters where the elastic band is around the thigh.
Broke the blisters. They are healing like burn marks on skin.
Took her to hospital, they gave her intravenous benedryl then sent her home. This Only helped for a couple of hrs.
She has ice on her legs. Over the counter Benedryl only alleviates symptoms for about a half hour.
Tried cortisone cream, but it irritated her more.
Please help, what will alleviate pain, swelling and itch?

Brief Answer:
anti inflammatory pain killer, calamine lotion along with other meds
Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic
She may want to add an anti inflammatory pain killer to regimen if she can use this type of medication eg ibuprofen, naproxen , cataflam
She can get one of these over the counter, should be used after a meal. They would reduce the pain and since anti inflammatory would help to reduce some of the inflammatory response
Calamine lotion helps with itching and pain as well. Also over the counter
Can be used with the anti inflammatory pain killer, cortisone and benadryl
Use maximum allowed dose of benadryl
I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
