Suggest Remedy For Lump In Throat

Question: My daughter who is 15 has small bumps in the back of her throat. She has had them for some time now. When we first noticed them we had a swab done to check for strep. Even thought she was not ill and they caused he no pain. The test was negative. We were told it should clear up in time. There are not as many now but they are still there. They don't bother her at all. A few days before she found them she had gotten her braces off and new retainers. Could it be a sensitivity to the plastic in the retainers?

Is it unusual for her to feel something at first? That is how she noticed it. But as time went on she didn't notice it anymore? You are the first Dr. to know what it is and say it's normal. It had us concerned to not get a answer to what it was.
Brief Answer:
Normal
Detailed Answer:
The tissue in the back of the throat is similar to tonsils and they may initially become enlarged after an upper respiratory infection. They may fluctuate in size but they are very common and nothing to be concerned about. She can try salt water gargles which may reduce the inflammation but since she is having no symptoms I am inclined to not to any extra treatments.
