Question: My sister has Stage 4 colon cancer. She has been vomiting brown liquid for approximately a week since being allowed to introduce some food by mouth. She is also supplementing with TPN. She says the only thing bothering her is the nausea and vomiting. Pain is controlled with her Fentanol patch. Is this indicative of a blockage?

Brief Answer:
I doubt this can be obstruction related

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome.

Thank you for writing to us.

I have gone through your query with diligence and would like you to know that I am here to help. A blockage would present with other symptoms like:

+Abdominal bloating
+Little or no stool or gas passed
+Absent peristalitic movements
+Extreme discomfort or pain in the abdominal region
+Along with vomiting

As you have not mentioned the other symptoms, I suspect this to be more of a rejection or intolerance than obstruction issue, but it would still be worth getting investigated (physically by a doctor along with investigations like erect abdominal x-ray or CT abdomen).

I hope you find my response helpful. Please feel free to write back to me for any further clarifications, I would be more than happy to help.

Best wishes.
