Suggest Remedy For Pain After A Torn Meniscus In The Knee
Torn meniscus treatment
Detailed Answer:
Hello
thank you for your question. A torn meniscus is very common. A lot actually go undiagnosed.
I generally treat these with conservative care for at least 6 weeks. This means the following ;
reduced activity and no sports.
ice as needed.
Heat if the knee is stiff.
Ibuprofen or similar for pain as needed.
seeing a physical therapist often helps -they can teach you home exercises and stretches.
a neoprene knee sleeve can provide heat and can give relief.
The indications for surgery include ;
increasing pain after 6 weeks
a locked knee
increasing swelling or stiffness
persistent clicking or catching
not all tears need surgery. Try to adopt a non surgical approach for at least 6 weeks if you can.
I hope this helps.
best wishes
