Question: I have been diagnosed with vaginal cellulitis yesterday. I was given Bactrim and Bactrian ointment. I'm wondering how long before I fell some relief from the pain and burning, it's pretty severe. No fever or any other problems.

Brief Answer:
Take a pain killer too.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
After starting an antibiotic, it takes around 48 hours to show and effect and have some relief. You can take a mild pain killer like ibuprofen round the clock and do a hot compress in the area for an earlier relief.
Please feel free to discuss further. I will be glad to answer the follow up queries that you have.

Is this a fairly common problem, and would you recommend the meds I'm taking?

Thanks for writing again.
Yes. It is a common problem. The medicines you are taking are correct. I would recommend a pain killer like Aleve in addition to antibiotic.
