Suggest Remedy For Pain And Swelling After Filling Cavities In Tooth

Question: My daughter had 3 cavities filled today ( small ones) - no novocaine used. Twelve hours later she said the pain is increasing and her cheeks are starting to swell. She called the dentist on his emergency line and he called in a prescription for a pain killer and antibiotic. Is there anything else to be done at this point? She has already taken X strength Tylenol and advil. Thank you for any advice you can offer.

After going through the history posted here, it appears that your daughter has developed Pulpitis.The tooth is infected and requires root canal treatment.You can continue with the prescribed antibiotic and pain killer.Simultaneously please revisit your dentist soon, so that a x ray can be taken and tooth can be opened.

That means, the built up pressure inside the tooth can be relieved by making a cavity into it.This will minimize her pain.Later on, you can discuss with your dentist and go for root canal treatment.
Meanwhile do warm saline rinses.
Please let me know for further doubts.
