Detailed Answer:
Hi there.
Welcome to Healthcare Magic.
I have read your query and understood your problem.
Do you have pain at the heel such occurs mainly in the mornings when you first stand up and after getting up after sitting for long time ?
Do you have any medical diseases ?
According to the details you provided it appears that you have plantar fasciitis which is an irritation and inflammation of the fascial lining of the heel and base of the foot and heel, when the person is overweight and in cases of flat foot when this fascial lining is stretched beyond normal.
The regular treatment protocol for plantar fasciitis is taking anti inflammatory medication like ibuprofen 200 milligrams twice a day after a meal and wearing night splints to keep the feet dorsiflexed towards the shin bone at night time while sleeping this helps to stretch a tight calf muscle which is commonly seen in plantar fasciitis patients. Wearing soft silicone heel inserts in your footwear is helpful.
Also calf stretching exercises by keeping your outstretched hands in front of you against a wall bending one knee forward and the other knee is straight and kept behind the first leg. This posture kept for 10 to 20 seconds and is repeated for 3 to 4 times a day helps to loosen the tight calf muscles and provide relief in plantar fasciitis.
This treatment is continued for 3 to 4 months but if the patient is not relieved then injections like steroids or platelet-rich plasma is injected into the origin of the plantar fascia and this usually gives relief for up to six months at a time. In recalcitrant cases, surgical release of the plantar fascia can be done to relieve the patient of the symptoms.
Kindly consult your Orthopaedic surgeon and get a thorough examination and necessary investigations like Xray to rule out other conditions like sharp bone formation in the base of the heel called Calcaneal spur, which can cause the same symptoms but need surgical removal for relief.
Eat healthy. Keep well hydrated. Exercise regularly to keep fit and avoid obesity.
I hope I have answered your query.
Thanking you.
Regards,
Dr. Aashish Raghu
