Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thank you for posting your query in healthcaremagic.com
This is Dr. Swarnava dattagupta answering your query.

I understand your concern.
Diarrhea for 2 weeks can be called a persistent diarrhea. It can be because of some long standing infection or there can be various diseases of the gastrointestinal tract causing it.
Your doctor had given you antibiotics but it did not resolve. Hence, it might need some other medicine also and some local causes have to ruled out.
If such patient comes to me, I generally ask for a stool culture and routine examination to be done, alongwith a colonoscopy if there is a previous history of diarrhea or gastrointestinal problems might be useful too. Antibiotics can be decided upon the stool culture reports. A complete blood count to rule out generalised manifestations of infection might be done.
Also, diet has to be controlled. Semisolid or bland diet should be taken without any fat or junk. A lot of fluids preferably coconut water, chicken broth without fat, fresh fruit juices are helpful.
I generally ask patients to take ORS solutions which also normalises the electrolyte deficiency associated largely with diarrhea.
brisk exercise regularly is very effective.
medicines like loperamide can be taken in severe cases to check excessive stool.

You can discuss the above with your treating doctor.
You can always visit a gastroenterologist for further management.

Hope i have answered your question.
If you have any further questions i will be happy to help.
Regards.
