Question: Hello, I am 57 year old white male 5-8 165 lbs in good health, and actively excercise. I take no meds other than a multi-vitamin and ambien to help sleep. I have had persistant discomfort in my left lower abdomen. At first I just thought it was gas, but it has been peristant. The abdomen is not turgid, and there is little pain even when exercising. Right now as a I sit here, I can feel the pressure from the area, and it seems to be slightly XXXXXXX in the area. At times it almost feels like it is behind or in my bladder.
I travel a lot for work, and was searching for a local urgent care to see this afternoon, but saw this service first. Any thoughts are of course welcome

Brief Answer:
could be of intestinal or urinary origin

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

left lower abdominal pain is most likely associated with the intestine. Potential diagnoses include: diverticular disease (particularly if you're constipated) , irritable bower syndrome, inflammatory bowel diseases, cancer, etc.

Such pain may also come from the urinary tract. The left abdominal pain can be caused by a partial obstruction of the left ureter for example. The lower abdominal (central) discomfort can originate from the bladder (obstruction close to the bladder or cystitis).

Clinical examination may provide more data regarding the origin of the pain, so you'd better find that urgent care you were looking for. Lab tests would be useful as well, like urinalysis, complete blood count, C-reactive protein, erythrocyte sedimentation rate, etc
Clinical examination and the aforementioned tests will give the doctor a good idea of what's going wrong.
