Suggest Remedy For Severe GERD In A Person With IBS

default
Posted on Sat, 16 Jan 2016
Question: I have bad anxiety, mainly health anxiety, so I'm worried this is something serious. My stomach muscles are sore for no reason it seems. I haven't done any ab exercises, but it feels like I have. I have been told by my doctor a few years ago that it's possible I have IBS, since my mother has it and I have had symptoms of it. Anytime I eat my body forms a lot of gas, so I burp a lot. I also have GERD. I know stress isn't good for anything, but I'm really wondering why my stomach muscles are sore. The feeling goes from my stomach area down to my belly button. I have read that ulcers can cause this, so now I'm freaking out. This feeling has been here for about 3 or 4 days.

Brief Answer:
it is indigestion problem

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX

Thanks for writing to us. I can understand your concern.

Ulcer is not possibility in your case as it causes severe burning pain and pain increases as soon as you start eating food.

Your problem is indigestion. Formation of gas and burping are suggestive of that. It is very common problem. Possibility of irritable bowel syndrome is there but in that case more abdominal pain and constipation/diarrhea are also present.

As it is not clear what causes irritable bowel syndrome, treatment focuses on the relief of symptoms so that you can live as normally as possible. You can successfully control mild signs and symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome by learning to manage stress and making changes in your diet and lifestyle. Try to avoid foods that trigger your symptoms. Also try to get enough exercise, drink plenty of fluids and get enough sleep.
If your problems are moderate or severe, you may need more than lifestyle changes. Your doctor may suggest medications depending upon symptoms.

You should consult doctor for routine check up and ultrasound and if needed upper GI scopy to rule out any problem.

From history it seems that there is no serious problem. Counseling regarding diet and stress after detail history, and treatment of GERD will be enough to make you comfortable.

Hope I have answered your query, I will be happy to help further.
Regards,
Dr.Chintan Solanki.
