Question: My husband has pulmonary fibrosis. At the moment he has a bad chest cold. He's coughing and just started antibiotics. He woke up tonight coughing, with a bad pain in his lower back or kidney. What should we do?

Based in the history you have shared, at this moment for pain relief you can use antispasmodic like drotaverine or hyoscyamine and avoid analgesics. Get Renal function tests and urinalysis done and rule out any drug induced renal toxicity. Until tests results aren't obtained he can continue Z pack.

Drink plenty of water. If pain increases visit an ER and get Injectable pain killers and labs. Also get Ultrasound KUB done to rule out any kidney stones.
