Question: Good Morning, I had surgery on my C5-C6 discs last August 12, 2014 (fusion). Since then, I have continued to have major "throbbing - burning" aching pains in my rights Shoulder and pain down the riqht side of my arm when trying to use my last two fingers when trying to type or write.
Surgeon has done another MRI ( as well as a Shoulder Surgeon) and the both agree and there is minor damage showing in some areas of C4 / C7, and shoulder area but not severe enough for surgery.
I was advised my someone that I may be candidate for "Thoracic Outlook Syndrome" procedure?

Brief Answer:
Nerve root compression or damage

Detailed Answer:
hi,

thanks for your question.

the symptoms in your shoulder arm and hand can be explained by ongoing nerve root compression or nerve root damage in your neck as a result of nerve compression from degenerative changes in your cervical spine or damage secondary to the surgery that you had to decompress the nerves and fuse your cervical spine. m

if your surgeon does it feel that further surgery to decompress these nerves will be of benefit then he might consider medication to try and help with your symptoms such as antiinflammatories and neuromodulating drugs such and gabapentin or pregabalin.

this scenario is much more likely than a diagnosis of thoracic outlet syndrome.

best wishes
