Question: I am having this fluttering feeling in both of my ears for the past 3 2 months. I can hear my heartbeat in my ears mainly at night. This causes me severe anxiety during the night. During the day I am ok. The condition presents mostly at night. I am a mental health therapist with a father that has a hx of anurisyms. I'm concened, I take ambien to sleep at night for the past 7 years. I am very concerned about having to take this...more concerned at my new experience about having anxiety. What do i do about this.

Brief Answer:
Probably pulsatile tinnitus, consult ENT specialist/Neurologist

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Welcome to HCM.
I can understand your concerns.

Hearing heart beat in your ears is suggestive of pulsatile tinnitus.

The common causes are high blood pressure, conductive hearing deficit and aberrant blood vessels.

Most of the time, pulsatile tinnitus is nothing to worry about. As it has becomes really bothersome, talk to your doctor.

Also, since you have family history of aneurysm in your father, I would suggest you to get examined by an ENT specialist or a neurologist to rule out any serious cause.

Practice relaxation exercises like deep breathing and meditation to keep yourself calm.

Hope this helps.
All the best.
Thanks.
