Suggest Remedy For Sleeping Problem In A Child With ADHD
Question: My son of 9 has Adhd, he is taking concerta 27mg since September 2014. Lately im finding him a little hard to manage again, impossible for him to sit still... . Im afraid he's body is getting immune to 27mg, do you think i should ask my local gp about uping his dose, or should i wait until his older. I was very against giving him medication for Adhd, So afraid. Things just got to difficult for us. He's behaviour was very bad. This drug is a miracle, it has changed him, and all his family for the best. Just hope i'v done the right thing by putting him on it.
He finds it extremely difficult to sleep at night, always has. Routine is 9 - 9.30 for bed, may not sleep til 11 / 11.30. Hence finds it difficult to get up in the morning. Id like something over the counter i dont like to give him more medication.
he gets his Concerta at 8am ish, before school each and every day.

you can discuss about increasing dose.
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for writing to us.
Yes you can very well discuss about increasing the dose of concerta by a few mg.
That will help him a lot.
For sleep induction melatonin can be tried at night.
I am not sure if it is available without prescription.
Check with your local pharmacy.
Wishing your child good health.
