Suggest Remedy For Sleeplessness And Flatulence In A Person With IBS

I am a pure vegetarian, male, aged 43, height-5'10", weight-52 kg with irritable bowel symptoms in the past.
I am facing flatulence for the past two months, but no pain or do not face any other discomfort.
While the problem is there for the entire day sometime after the meals, it strikes during night.
My sleep is disturbed exactly after 4-5 hours (every night) after I go to bed and once I awake I release a lot of gas. I also feel little thirsty during night.
The problem persists even after attempting few home tips. What could be wrong here?
Thanks and regards,
Srijit
Take probiotics, 5 to 6 small meals a day rather than 2 to 3 large meals.
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome.
I have gone through your query.
Excessive flatulence is a condition that needs to be targeted through multiple approaches.
Have 5-6 small meals instead of 2-3 large ones: This prevents leaving your stomach empty for long durations of time which in turn causes gas formation
Avoid all those food items that can cause increased gas production (eg. Lentils, potatoes, carbonated drinks, oats, sugar-containing drinks, pasta, beans, candy, gum, milk and dairy products, onions, green peppers, onions, celery, apricots, bananas, pears, peaches, etc.). Curd and butter milk are helpful.
Drink plenty of water between all your meals as staying hydrated is crucial in preventing gas production
Avoid a lifestyle in which you sit in one place for long. Make sure you move around and have at least a 30-minute walk as part of your daily exercise
Avoid smoking and alcohol.
You can take probiotic like ecobion or sporolac or Lacfid, it will be beneficial.
With this approach you will surely feel a great improvement.
This provisional advice provided by me is based entirely on the input provided to me. I would suggest examination by the doctor.
Hope this helps.
Take care.
