Question: Hello,
I am a 24 year old female and I have a red swollen rash in the crease between my right upper thigh and vaginal lip. It is extremely painful to the touch. I am playing in an extremely important game in 3 days and I need help quickly. There is no way I will be able to play my best when I am having pain from simply walking around right now. Thank you in advance for your help.

Brief Answer:
Could be infection / allergy. Please upload pics.
Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX
Thanks for writing to us with your health concern.
There are two possibilities here.
The first is a fungal infection.
This is very common in skin creases, particularly when you are in hot weather, and you sweat a lot.
THe other possibility is an allergic reaction to fabric / soap etc.
Can you please upload multiple clear pictures of the area ?
I will try and make a diagnosis then, and suggest what to do further.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Take care.

I have uploaded 2 images under the report link.
Brief Answer:
Fungal infection.
Detailed Answer:
Yes I have seen the images.
This is definitely a fungal infection.
Avoid scratching / touching the area.
Apply Clotrimazole ( Candid ) cream to the area.
Use Clotrimazole dusting powder to keep it dry.
Wear cotton underpants and change frequently, or do not wear underpants till this heals.
It should be much better in 3 days, when you have the game coming up.
Try and air the area, dont let it get damp and sweaty.

Thank you so much for the help. One more thing if you don't mind. Is there anyway to prevent this from happening again in the future besides keeping the area clean and dry.
Brief Answer:
As below.
Detailed Answer:
Well this is basically a condition known to occur in athletes / players due to sweat in the area.
Nothing much can be done to prevent it.
If it is recurrent, you might want to get your blood sugars tested, as diabetes might cause that.
Using Clotrimazole as a dusting powder for the area helps.
Avoid community swimming pools or sharing towels / soap etc.
You can try using an anti-dandruff shampoo, like Selsun Blue on this area twice a month. Lather up and leave it on the skin for about five minutes.
This should help .
The key again is - keeping the area clean, cool and dry .
Take care, and wish you luck for the game !
