Suggest Rteatment For Severe Headaches While On Thyroid Medication
Question: Hello to you,my problem is I have just been diagnosed with hypothyroid and are currently taking nature thyroid,I also have tmj ,I am on my period and are having severe headache, what can I take for thr pain,I am on .5 ml of lorazepam but I ran out,I have Xanax and flexeril can I substitute anyone of these..please help
Brief Answer:
None of these is pain killer
Detailed Answer:
It would be great if you also take a painkiller along with Flexeril which is a muscle relaxant. Lorazepam and Xanax are anti anxiety drugs and would not take care of headache.
TMJ disorders may lead to very severe headaches especially on the same side of the head and face. Instead of those drugs, I would start you on a combination of Paracetamol and ibuprofen. Both these should be easily available over the counter. That should take care of your pain.
If pain is very severe you may need opioid drugs which will need prescription. Please go to a neurologist who might examine you for headache and help you find the proper cure.

Hello it's me again, having muscle spasm and the base of my skull because of tmj!I am on thyroid replacement hormone therapy and progesterone hormone theraphy,I am so terrify I don't know what to take,no pain but muscle spasm,I do have flexeril but I don't know if I can take it with those other meds am on for the hormone imbalance,I also have meloxicam
Brief Answer:
relaxation techniques might help you.
Detailed Answer:
Definitely tmj will not cause muscle spasm at the base of neck but anxiety and stress may. You are already on anxiolytics and muscle relaxants. A n addition of painkiller should be enough and it will affect your hormonal replacement therapy.
