Suggest The Ideal Dosage For Latuda Taken For Bipolar Depression

Question: I have been taking Latuda for what may be bipolar with depressive symptoms. I was on 20 mg for about 4 weeks but It was too strong for me, lightheadness, insomnia, etc. Now, on 10 mg's (per doctor's orders), I am incredibly restless, irritable, not sleeping (wake up at 2:30 am), bad dreams, crying, etc. I want to take some atavan to help with the symptoms but I'm out. I have them on order. I also have lost being able to use by auto and now I have to depend on others. I also lost my sister to cancer almost 9 months ago. I'm a mess. Do you think I should cut down to 5 mg's?? Any help would be most appreciated.

Hello, and thanks for your question.
I'm sorry you are suffering so much. Here are my thoughts.
A typical therapeutic dose of Latuda is around 80mg. Your symptoms at this low dosage, if they are indeed related to the medication which there is a chance they aren't, suggest this may not be the correct medication for you. I'd recommend considering a different medication for bipolar depression, such as lithium, lamotrigine, quetiapine, or aripiprazole.

Thank you so much for your input. I will be calling my doctor tomorrow but I just feel so lousy that I had to hear something from a professional. I am starting to think that this is not the pill for me. I felt better in about 5 days - happy, wanting to see people again, etc. But the symptoms have not been very tolerable as of late. I'm not even sure that I have bipolar, but it is a possibility. Thank you again so much for speaking with me.
Sincerely,
XXXXXXX
