Suggest Treatment After Suffering From A Cat Bite

Question: About two weeks ago I was bit by an outside cat. since then the cat has died and I'm not sure why I just had seen other cats eating its remains. also a raccoon has been walking around in broad daylight outside and am afraid it came in contact with cat that bit me and that I may have rabies. this is causing such anxiety and I don't have insurance until the 15th of February
Brief Answer:
You need to take anti rabies vaccine
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome to Healthcare Magic,
As you were bit by a stray cat two weeks back and the cat has died. Cat is a known reservoir of rabies virus and can transmit rabies by biting.
I can understand your concern and anxiety as two weeks has gone following this event, I would suggest you take five shots of anti rabies vaccine from today itself on days 0,3,7,14 and 28. Day 0 dose is the first shot of anti rabies vaccine.
The incubation period in case of rabies virus ranges from 2 weeks to 6 months, so it is better to take anti rabies vaccine on these days on to the deltoid muscle (Shoulder). Consult your ER as early as possible.
Thank you.
