Suggest Treatment For Pityriasis Rosea
Question: I have a rash diagnosed as Pityriasis rosea, have had it for about 7 weeks now.
I believe there is no treatment except for anti-itching cream & that the rash should disappear in time.
Can you please confirm this & how long normally before rash disappears.?
Brief Answer:
liver function test
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for the query.
pityriasis roseae is a reactive condition.
It is not related to any particular infection hence exact treatment is not there.
Symptomatic treatment can be done with mild steroid creams and anti histamine tablets.
Sometimes it is associated with deranged liver function.
Please get your liver function test done.
Rash usually disappears in 12 weeks.
Let me know the reports so I can guide you further.
Thank you

I have no other symptoms & feel perfectly well, the doctor I consulted did not mention any liver function issue. Is this really necessary.?
Brief Answer:
better get it done
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Your symptoms are continuing for long. Its 7 weeks. So better get the test done once.
Its always better to rule out a systemic involvement.
Thank you
