Question: I have a urinary infection and a catheter has been inserted. I am taking cephalerin for seven days. My urine is starting to look clear. Earlier I try to remove catheter but was unable to pass urine so it was reinserted. I am to have removed Monday. If I can not pass urine my urologic want to laser my track going through my prostrate. I am concern with this procedure. Is there other option beside just inserting a catheter?

based on the facts that you had acute retention of urine due to Enlarged Prostate needed catheterization and failed to pass urine after removal of catheter .This strongly suggest that you have severe bladder outlet obstruction due to enlarged prostate .

In a given situation it is advisable to undergo endoscopic surgery of (TURP) done to make the urinary passage free fro obstruction .

This is a simple gold standard surgery done world wide for enlarged prostate and offers permanent cure that helps to improve quality of life at this age .
