Suggest Treatment For A Bruise On The Throat
Question: Hi doctor, I am a 30 years old female. Few hours before I had chicken. I think I swallowed a bone which bruised my throat. It's hurting a lot. I feel it's because of the bone and not any infection. Kindly diagnose and advice. Thanks .

The minor mucosal injury caused by chicken bone will usually heal on its own.
If you feel a foreign body sensation in throat. You need a throat examination and x ray to rule out any bone stuck in throat.
If you have swallowed the bone, nothing to worry. Because most of the small foreign bodies will pass spontaneously in stools.
I recommend the following.
1) Analgesics like tablet ibuprofen for pain relief.
2) High fiber diet like green leafy vegetables.
3) If the sensation persists then consult an ENT doctor and get it evaluated. He might advice a check x ray after the examination of throat.
4) Local anesthetic based throat gargle for better relief.
