thanks doctor. if they are benign could they be diagnosed by MRI or other scans. is radiotherapy still required. I am also attaching ultrasound report before the surgery, does it point go benign diagnosis?
Brief Answer:
hemangiopericytoma
Detailed Answer:
Hi there,
After seeing the reports, its is stated by the pathologist that it is hemangiopericytoma that is completely removed, that is no tumor is remaining.
But hemangiopericytoma unlike other fibrous tumours are known to recur and monitoring will be required.
A detailed evaluation of the reports and decision of frequency , number and type of radiotherapy by a good radiotherapist can definitely delay recurrence and improve live span.
The pre-operative ultrasound states that is has no calcification or necrosis that indicates that it is less likely to be malignant. Complete removal of tumour with clear margins is also an excellent sign.
Best to get evaluated by a radiotherapist.
Hope this helps.
Regards.

sorry obe more question, my brother is worried about radiotherapy as that's associated with cancer generally. if this is benign, do we still need to see radiotherapist. regarding the observation should we have ultrasound or MRI in 2-3 months and is it for neck only?
Brief Answer:
don't worry
Detailed Answer:
Hi there,
Better to see radiotherapist as if at all in case; if at all it comes back he has expert taking care of him. He should also do the MRI/USG under guidance of the consultant with whom he plans to have long term follow up.
Don't be scared, the mass was removed, we are just making absolutely sure it doesn't come back.
Hope this helps.
Regards.
don't worry

Doctor I am seriously worried now reading and searching about some of the terms in the report. there is no necrosis but it suggest mild nuclear pleomorphism. could it be sign of something serious? my brother is only 40 and young children. please suggest
Brief Answer:
more postives than negative
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Do not worry.
The positives signs in the report like margins clear, no necrosis and only mild ( not severe) pleomorphism indicate that treatment was done at right time.
This will work well for your brother .
Worrying too much will not help him.
But follow up and early identification of any recurrence will definitely help him.
Keep calm and take care.
