Suggest Treatment For A Lump In The Neck
I would recommend as follows:
Detailed Answer:
Hello!
Welcome on HCM!
I carefully passed through your question and would explain that your symptoms could be related to a vascular disorder (hemangioma, vascular malformation, arterio-venous fistula, etc.).
In order to properly identify the nature of this lump, it is important to make a biopsy (histological examination) after the excision of this node.
But, before coming to this point (surgery and biopsy), it is important performing a careful physical exam by your doctor and some tests:
- a Doppler ultrasound of the local soft tissues coupled with Doppler techniques to detect the potential blood flow within the pulsating mass.
- a MRI with gadolinium enhancement of soft tissues of the neck
- an arteriography would be the golden standard test if a vascular neoformation is suspected.
You should discuss with your doctor on the above issues.
Hope to have been helpful!
I remain at your disposal for any further questions whenever you need!

I will reach out to them right away.. is there anything I should look out for that would indicate more immediate care is needed ?
My opinion as follows:
Detailed Answer:
Hello again!
It important that the above mentioned alternatives be carefully investigated arriving to the right cause of that neck pulsating lump.
A carotid artery aneurysm would be an important reason for prompt medical investigation and diagnosis as it may progress rapidly and lead to dangerous life-threatening complications.
First it may show symptoms related to compression of the adjacent venous and nerve structures, but it may also progress to rupture or even be a source of obstructing clots.
If such complications occur the clinical course will obviously deteriorate with signs of focal neurological impairment, blurred vision, or important stroke, etc.
That’s why it is important a prompt differential diagnosis.
If having a medical appointment at your living area could delay the clinical decision making, then I would recommend you to ask immediate medical assistance to the nearest ER service where it would be possible to rule in/out at least any serious vascular complications.
That’s my professional opinion.
Hope you will find this answer helpful!
