Brief Answer:
Needs surgery if more than partial thickness tear.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
A meniscus tear in the knee joint needs a surgical repair if it is more than a partial thickness tear. If the knee joint is unstable even then a surgical repair is recommended. An MRI scan will help in detecting the extent of tear. If it is a small tear then immobilization and brace can help in proper healing.
Do get an MRI scan done to decide regarding the further line of treatment.
I hope this answers your query.
