Suggest Treatment For A Missed Abortion
Question: Last four months of periods 11/12/14, 12/10/14, 1/7/15, 2/7/15 went yesterday for what I thought was my 7 week 2day scan and they saw a fetal pole and a yolk sac but no heartbeat. I need to go back in a week. Nausea has set in and sensitivity to smells is huge. Completely exhausted. Is there hope? Are my dates wrong
Brief Answer:
Missed abortion?
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX
If the heart beat doesnt appear by 7 weeks, then its called a missed abortion. In most cases, the heart beat is seen by 6-7 weeks. In your case, i see that you cycles were not very regular. In such cases, there is a chance of the dates being wrong. However, from your last period, 7th XXXXXXX '15 you should be over 8 weeks.
You can definitely wait another week and repeat the scan in case you had a delayed conception since your periods were irregular.

Thank you for your quick response . What would be the % of this turning out ok
Brief Answer:
Low odds
Detailed Answer:
I'd say about 20-30% chances if your dates are indeed correct. if your dates are wrong then slightly better. in your case if the scan already says its 7 weeks then chances of wrong dates are low. hence the odds aren't good. hope for the best!
