Suggest Treatment For Abdominal Pain, Nausea And Blurred Vision
Question: My teenage daughter is presenting with upper abdominal pain, nausea after eating, growing fatigue, difficulty concentrating, blurred vision, poor healing, increased acne, rash on legs that errupts into small scabs without scratching and when pain is extreme she has broken out into hives on her legs. The hives respond to benadryl. Bloodwork shows nothing remarkable except slightly elevated DHEAS (390). MRI of head negative. Sonogram for cysts negative. Her father died from pancreatic cancer and had been diagnosed with fatty liver. Paternal family has many instances of tyhroid problems.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I have gone carefully through your query and understand your concern regarding to your daughter's health.
The presence of acne and a slightly elevated DHEAS are suggestive for Polycistic ovarian syndrome, even though the cysts are not identified in ovaries.
Some more information regarding to menstrual cycle would be helpful:
- When has been the first menstrual cycle and is it regular?
-Since when are these symptoms (nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain) present ?
-Is the weight and height appropriate for her age?
Regarding to the eruptive lesions that are relieved by Benadryl, allergic reaction is suspected.
Will be a pleasure to help you further.

Dr.Mirjeta
