Question: Thank you Doctor. Your prescription proved to be really helpful. I took medicine for 3 days and it improved significantly, do you suggest continuing for another few days?

Brief Answer:
Continue doxycycline twice a day for 2 weeks

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX Thank you for writing back to us

I am Dr. Kakkar (MD, skin and VD).
I have gone through your query and I have viewed your previous communication with the other doctor of this forum. I have also viewed the Images.
You seem to have inflammatory acne like bumps on face. I can see that you mainly have those lesions in the beard area - where you shave. These bumps seem like they form when the hair regrow after a shave (over next 1-2 days). These acne like bumps localized to the beard region is actually called 'pseudofolliculitis/ ingrown hair' and happens as the sharp edge of regrowing beard hair irritates the skin.
I suggest you to continue with Doxycycline 100mg cap. You may take it twice a daily (after breakfast and after dinner) rather than just once a day. If your skin is tolerating benzoyl peroxide then you may continue with that for 2 weeks else if benzoyl peroxide is irritating your skin then you may switch to Nadifloxacin 1%gel (Nadoxin gel or Nadibact gel), twice daily.
The challenge in such cases is to prevent recurrence after a shave...
I suggest that you use a single blade razor and not double or triple blade razor so as to avoid close a shave. Always shave along the grain. Never against the grain. Lather the hair well before shaving. However, if this does not help then you may try using an electrical driven razor or a clipper to avoid shaving too close to skin.

Thanks Doctor. I would start it again from tomorrow as prescribed. Also, is there any cure available for skin tags as well? I have those around my neck and underarms. Small but now started growing in number as well as size. Please let me know.

Brief Answer:
Elecrocautery for skin tags

Detailed Answer:
Thank you.

Yes. Skin tags need to be removed with either Elecrocautery or Radiofrequency cautery. It is a very simple procedure. You may visit a dermatologist in your area for the needful.

Brief Answer:
Skin tags

Detailed Answer:
hi XXXXXXX

Removal by Elecrocautery is the simplest and easiest way to remove skin tags. It gives excellent cosmetic results. Home remedies or natural treatment like application of caustics/ chemicals or any such products by amateurs is not recommended as it may lead to complications like pain, infection. scaring, pigmentation.
