Suggest Treatment For An Itchy Rash On The Face In An Elderly Person

Question: I am a 74 year old male. I have a itching burning rash on my face. Is it the same as yeast infection on female yeast infection of vagina? I have had fungal infection on my crotch area before, and I have a toe nail fungus. My doctor prescribed a steroid pill, Prednisone and a steroid cream called Triamcinolone, and it has made rash worse. What is prescribed for this as fungal yeast infection? About ten years ago, I had exact same symptoms, and my doctor prescribed an antifungal pill that eradicated the rash in two days. What would that medication in pill form have been?

Antifungal meds like fluconazole or terbinafine are usually advised , if its indeed a fungal infection. The area needs to be examined first before prescribing them. If you are not satisfied with your current skin doctor then you may request your GP for a second referral.
