Suggest Treatment For Anaemia In A Child
Question: My daughter's (13 months old) doctor told that she is aneamic with Heamoglobin level as 11 and prescribed ferrous sulphate drops 2ml each day. But after its use in 10 days, I see my daughter's teeth turned black. Can you please suggest some alternate iron supplement which will not discolor her teeth and also help her in increasing her haemoglobin level?I forgot to mention she is also taking Pol vi sol with iron(1 ml) daily in her formula.
Brief Answer:
Dilute it.
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.
I have gone through your query and understand your concern. Unfortunately most iron preparations are thick and unless you clean the mouth properly after administration of the doses, discoloration of teeth is not unlikely. You can give Ferium XT or Order XT instead but more importantly diluting the solution in 1 or 2 ml of water should help.
Let me know if I could help further.
