Yes it happens in many people
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for writing to us. I appreciate your curiosity.
Psychosomatic symptoms can occur in many psychiatric conditions like depression and anxiety spectrum disorder. And there are conditions in psychiatry which is exclusively comprising of psychosomatic symptoms only called somatoform disorders.
Prevalence rate of somatoform disorder is 1-2%.Psychosomatic symptoms in specific psychiatric disorder are very widely prevalent due to high prevalence of depression and anxiety disorders in community. It means what you have suffered is also suffered by many.
Etiology/reasons for psychosomatic symptoms described psychologically as well as neurologically. However exact physiological and neurological basis are not established.
-One of the oldest theories about the cause of somatization disorder suggests that it is a way of avoiding psychological distress. Rather than experiencing depression or anxiety, some individuals will develop physical symptoms. According to this model, somatization disorder is a defense against psychological pain that allows some people to avoid the stigma of a psychiatric diagnosis. While getting the care and nurturing they need from doctors and others who are responsive to their apparent medical illnesses, many patients are encouraged to continue their manipulative behavior.
-An alternative theory suggests that somatization disorder arises from a heightened sensitivity to internal sensations. People with somatization disorder may be keenly aware of the minor pains and discomforts that most people simply ignore.
-According to some thoughts, somatization disorder results from negative beliefs and exaggerated fears about the significance of physical sensations. Individuals with somatization disorder are thus more likely to believe that vague physical symptoms are indicators of serious disease and to seek treatment for them.
-Neurological theory suggests complex involvement of different neurotransmitters like serotonin, dopamine, norepinephrine etc.Drugs used for treatment like SSRI and SNRI support neurological basis.
Neurotransmitter changes can not be seen in any physical, blood or routine imaging findings. This lead to difficult to understand for common man that why he/she is suffering form pain or other symptoms without any cause.
Hope I have answered your query, I will be happy to help further.

Actually from the time my first anxiety attack occurred i got very very health conscious, like a hypochondriac. I am scared of illnesses and even a mild feeling of weakness or a little pain i feel attracts my attention. This never happened before the anxiety attack. Do you think it will go away at some point? That '''phobia''' i developed?
Also, 3 days before i got my first anxiety attack, i started taking contraceptive pills because i have polycystic ovary syndrome. Do you think is possible that the pills caused or triggered the attacks? I am asking because a few years i have tried taking the contraceptive pill and caused me insomnia, irritation and depression.
Yes phobia is your anxiety, contraceptive pills can cause anxiety attacks
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
First anxiety attacks with can cause anxiety in future with minor factors/pain or stress. This pattern develops due to apprehension of something wrong would happen.Good counseling by psychologist or psychiatrist needed to treat the same. If counseling can not treat, then only anti anxiety medicines needed.
You are young lady.No need to worry much about your health. Consult professional for such problem to prevent it becoming worse. Prevention is better than cure.
Polycystic ovary syndrome it self can cause some hormonal disturbance which may cause some anxiety symptoms. Oral contraceptive pills are associated with crazy feelings, anxiety, depression and insomnia.recent attack of anxiety in case might be due to contraceptive pills.
Feel free to ask if you have more queries.

No, avoid xanax as far as possible
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for question.
Xanax is benzodiazepine with high potency and dependence potential. It may help in dizziness. But taking on required basis may cause habit and later on tolerance which make you increase the dose in future.Better option is mouth dissolving clonazepam.
However if I were your treating doctor I would like to counsel first about such problem.I suggest to do deep breathing relaxation.First exhale your lungs completely then slowly inhale for 3 seconds, keep breath in lungs for 3 seconds and exhale gradually for 3 seconds. By doing so for 10-15 minutes you almost will feel good and there will be no need of any medicine. If this will not help by chance, you can go for medicine.
Hope this answer is helpful.
