Brief Answer:
could be depending on its cause

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

an irregular heart beat could be an arrhythmia. Arrhythmias vary in severity from benign to really serious. Too much coffee for example may lead to a few benign supraventricular beats. On the other hand, ventricular tachycardia is a very dangerous situation which may also cause an irregular heart beat.

You haven't mentioned a diagnosis, so I can't be more detailed. I suppose that your doctor has done a electrocardiogram at least. I'll be glad to comment more on your case, if you'd like to provide more details.

I hope you find my answer helpful!
You can contact me again, if you'd like any clarification or further information.

Kind Regards!
