Suggest Treatment For Back Pain
Conservative therapy will be enough most likely.
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thank you for asking HCM
I have gone through your query. Degenerative disc disease is not a progressing condition. It could have occurred progressively from activities which give repetitive stress injury to disc and spine like weight lifting , assuming wrong postures while doing various activities, wrong sitting postures etc.
Conservative therapy will be enough in most of the cases to cure it. It will take some time. Initially pain management and muscle relaxation is achieved by taking pain medication as well as muscle relaxants. Then starts physiotherapy and back muscle strengthening exercises slowly. This may be given by trial and error by physiotherapist also. So a constant physiotherapy and follow up should be carried out. Physiotherapy like TENS , ultrasound , Infrared and massage is helpful for this.
Avoid offending activities for discs like lifting heavy weights , leaning forward down, sitting for long periods etc. Using corsets also is good. Your physiotherapist will help you to find adequate corsets for wearing. Take more plain water to increase hydration. Avoid cafiene alcohol and smoking also.
Improvement is gradual and if there is no improvement even after 6 months of conservative treatment then you can think about surgical correction. Surgical treatment like microdiscectomy can be performed by minimal invasive techniques. This is available in most multispeciality hospitals.
Let me know if anything not clear.
I am happy to help you.
Thanks.
