Suggest Treatment For Badly Bruised Upper Right Thigh After Injury
Question: Twisted my ankle and fell on my knee. Upper right thigh badly bruised. blister started on the bruise. they said do not pop, but it did on it's own. It has been leaking and is light red (because of the bruise. Scared of infection. also when I stand after elevating my leg, I get pains in my thigh and shin- like pins and needles, extremely painful to put pressure on that leg. I think it is the fluid trying to go back down. I am diabetic, oral meds. I am on Aggrenox as well, which is why I am bruising so much. I had a stroke in Nov. 2012 and have right side weakness in my arm and leg. Please help as the pain is getting to be too much.

I have gone through your query and understand your concern.
Because you are diabetic, healing takes time and also there is increased risk of infection from wounds or trauma. Your bruise being associated with blisters and infection is because of the same logic. Also as you have correctly pointed out, people taking aggrenox might present with easy bruising etc.
If such a patient presented to me, I would have suggested the following-
Keeping the bruised area clean, apply ice locally, keep foot elevated.
Taking painkillers like paracetamol or ibuprofen or aceclofenac etc to reduce pain.
Taking trypsin-chymotrypsin combination to decrease swelling.
Taking coamoxyclav tablets to control infection.
Keeping blood sugar under control.
Get a complete blood count and C-reactive protein done to get an idea about the extent of infection if any.
If the blisters increase or the pain or swelling increases, visit a doctor to get checked clinically.
You can consult your treating or family doctor and get the above prescribed.
