Brief Answer:
Investigations need to be done; kindly provide the answers

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Welcome to HCM.
This is Dr. Swarnava Dattagupta answering your query.

I understand your concern.
Sorry to hear about your father's illness.
You have provided a short history.
And you have not mentioned what investigations he has undergone.
A tumour of bile duct can have quite a few differential dianosis but considering his age and presence of obstructive jaundice, cholangiocarcinoma is one of the possibilities.
I need to know what investigations had been done and also send the reports if possible. Also, an MRCP and preferably a biopsy should be done to know the grade and exact location of the tumor, on which depends the prognosis.
In general, in cases of cholangiocarcinoma, survival rate is around 1year if no surgery is done or in inoperable cases. But in cases of benign tumors, the prognosis is far better.
Kindly provide me any details if possible so that I can help you further with your doubts.

Hope this was helpful.
Consult me for any further queries.
Regards.
