Posted on Fri, 5 Aug 2016
Question: For the last 3 months my period comes from my vagina and my urethra. It mostly comes from my urethra. I went to the doctor and she dismissed it and explained to me where "the blood" comes from meaning she thought I was mistaken. Well I'm not and I'm now very concerned. The blood is also much brighter.

Brief Answer:
You seem to have bladder endometriosis.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to Healthcare magic.
I am Dr Ramadevi Wani. I will be answering your concerns.

From your notes it seems to me that you are pretty sure that the bleeding is from urethra and that too only during periods. The only condition which can cause this is bladder endometriosis.
Endometriosis is a condition where endometrium (lining of uterus) is deposited outside the uterus. It can be found in pelvis, rectum, bladder etc. During menstruation the lining of uterus is shed and so you have bleeding. Similarly endometrium in bladder also is shed causing bleeding.
Do you have any other symptoms of endometriosis like pain during mensus, painful intercourse, pelvic pain, pain during passing motions etc.

Please take a second opinion from another Gynecologist. Take the appointment in such a way so that it coincides with menstrual days. You will be asked to do ultrasound and MRI to confirm the diagnosis.
I hope this is helpful.
If you have further concerns, I will be happy to answer.
Best wishes,
Dr Rama
