Suggest Treatment For Bloating And Spasms In Stomach After A Total Colectomy

Question: I recently had a total colectomy a month ago, due to colonic inertia, don't know what caused it, it just started during my pregnancy. Had years of constipation, but would go 2-3x's a day.. Anyway I had a reattachment with my small intestine to my rectum, had nothing but issues, have issues with my rectum and muscles not relaxing. But bout a week ago, I was able to defacate, had to push but could defacate at least 5x's a day (was semi formed), now I'm lucky if I get one bm a day, and its not at all what it needs to be :( but I have issues keeping my rectum open to allow me to go. ) So its very hard to go. I had an ileuis after surgery. Bowels moved ok slow but ok, now I take reglan and keep taking i . The past few days I have been bloating but staying soft in the belly, but would have some major spasms, well I had them today, all the sudden tonight things get real quite and numb no more pain, and nothing moving, can't feel or hear a thing just feel extremely full of liquids, which the past few days I had been drinking protein boost and ensures shakes, so I can feel and hear lots of fluid, that's no longer trying to move, and my heart rate, starts going back down from the 70's to low 50's which is what I had , with the colon and things were extremely quite and full. I can't help but think this stuff is related. Also I can't tell if this pelvic floor dysfunction (rectum levator) or if its slow transit time, or a little of both.
Brief Answer:
Needs Evaluation
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for writing in
It is very unfortunate the things are not in place for you
You need a clinical evaluation, need to go for an abdominal ultrasound
Do not take anything orally till you have an evaluation done, do not over eat at any given time, small frequent meals with extra fiber will surely help once everything goes normal
With Pulse going down I would be concerned
It could well be a combination of all lack of propulsive movement and/or pelvic floor dysfunction
Get back to me with the ultrasound report also mention your age
Hope this helps
Do write back in case of concern

Hi,
Im 27 years old.. What test could be done to see if I have slow transit time? especially with having the rectum issues. Also could my rectum being this way cause my intestines to slow down and mess them up? I'm so nervous they're slow, if I don't soon get relief with my rectum, my surgeon and I talked about doing an ileostomy in a few weeks (3wks-3months total after my previous surgery), but I'm concerned things still wont come out like they're supposed to, I feel like they need a push. What test can be done to see my motility/transit time? When I take reglan or even just some miralax, I usually just have very little liquid that comes out, and that's it. I have spasms sometimes like things are going to try and move, but just that liquid but then again I'm not sure if rectum is cause or if theres something else further up, or instestines don't work right. Is it possible that my intestines just move light stuff, like gas, and very little liquid? apparently it cant even move those shakes. If my intestines don't work right and push through right what can be done? Anything? Im a mom of 2 and wife, Ive got to beat this! Also the last few xrays that have been done, have siad that there's increasing amounts of free fluid and several phleboliths in my pelvis, and I have a 5cm right loop in lower abdomen they think is my rectum attachement. I wish there was a way I could upload them to you. I also feel like my food gets so far and it stops right where I'm "bloated"...I hope I can get an ultrasound like you said, some dr.s around here wont do test just because I say or want one..
Thank you so much for your time, I can't wait to hear your responses on this message.
